KS3

30 lessons per week are taught at Key Stage 3 at Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern with the pupils studying a variety of interesting and exciting subjects. 4 lessons per week are given to each of the core subjects (Welsh, English, Mathematics and Science) in Year 7, 8 a 9. The remainder of the timetable is shared between the non-core subjects and either one or two lessons are give to these subjects in Year 7, 8 a 9. There is also one tutorial lesson for each registraion class in each Year.

The key skills (literacy, numeracy and digital literacy) will be applied across the curriculum, in all subjects.

During Year 9, the pupils will begin and complete the process of choosing their subjects for their GCSE studies.

KS4

30 lessons per week are taught at Key Stage 4 at Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern with the pupils studying a variety of core and non-core subjects that will lead to a mixtures of GCSE, Vocational, BTEC, City & Guilds or ASDAN qualifications. 18 lessons per week are given to the study of GCSE qualifications in the core subjects (Welsh, English, Mathematics and Science). The remainder of the timetable is shared between three chosen subjects (Physical Education, Religious Education, Art, Music, Design and Technology, Geography, Drama, French, History, Health & Social Care, Information and Communication Technolog, Retail Business, Hospitality and Catering, Hair and Beauty Studies), the Skills Challenge Certificate and the Tutorial lesson.

As part of our provision for Key Stage 4, Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern work in partnership with the other Môn Secondary Schools and Coleg Menai to offer our pupils the opportunity to attend other establishments within their chosen subjects periods to follow Vocational, BTEC o’r City & Guilds qualifications (Construction, Designing the Built Environment, Public Services, Motor Vehicle Engineering, Vehicle Technology and Engineering).

During Year 11, the pupils will begin the process of choosing their subjects for their Advanced Subsidiary Level studies if returning to school for the Sixth Form is their chosen path. This process is completed following the publication of their GCSE results in Year 11.

KS5

The number of lessons attended by a pupil in Key Stage 5 at Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern will vary based on the number of subjects studied at A Level. It is expected that a student who returns to the Sixth Form studies at least two subjects plus the Skills Challenge Certificate. The school offers a number of subjects which are taught on site (Physical Education, Reigious Studies, Biology, Art, Chemistry, Welsh, Design and Technology, Health and Social Care, History, Mathematics, English, Information and Communication Tehnology) and the number of lessons given for each subject ranges between 4 and 5 lessons per week.

Similar to our provision for Key Stage 4, Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern also for Key Stage 5 work in partnership with the other Môn Secondary Schools and Coleg Menai to offer our pupils the opportunity to attend other establishments within their timetable to follow AS and A Level, Vocational and BTEC qualifications (see the prospectus).

As a result of the flexibility to individual Key Stage 5 timetable, the pupils will have non-contact periods where there is the expectation on them to study and complete their work.
